The stores are packed with fresh fruits and veggies, the weather is beckoning you outdoors and a tall glass of water with a fresh lemon wedge suddenly seems so much more appealing…spring is the perfect time to reignite your weight loss!
Did you know that your body naturally craves fresh, wholesome foods? Peruse the grocery aisle for new, on-plan fruits and vegetables to try. If you always buy apples and oranges, take advantage of ripe watermelon, fresh berries or tangy kiwis. Challenge yourself to mix it up this week. When was the last time you treated yourself to some freshly cut pineapple?
Now is also a great time to get active. Longer days mean more time for activity. Start small; an afternoon walk is the perfect way to get more steps in each day. Walking is low-impact and accessible to everyone. Low-impact exercise protects your joints and results in less aches and pains than other forms of exercise.
Get out in the sunshine. A recent study conducted at the University of Minnesota found that people have a greater success in losing weight when their vitamin D levels are increased. Seventy-five percent or more of American teens and adults are deficient in vitamin D—a crucial vitamin that helps properly assimilate food and regulate normal blood sugar levels. Sunlight is the best, and only, natural source of vitamin D. Just 10-15 minutes of sunshine per day (with sunscreen, of course) can provide you with the vitamin D you need.
This spring, as the world around you comes to life, put some life back into your weight loss plan as well.
